The fall is here, and that means lots of things going on for me. I’m off for Montana, a week and a half in the woods with some great friends! Years of memories made, and continue year after year. This year there will be special in the fact that we have two of the next generation to guide and mold into responsible outdoorsman. Maybe there’s a song in it, I can assure you that my guitar will be with me. Go out and enjoy your fall, and hopefully see y’all soon!
Country, Alt. Country, or Americana
I read the music news a lot these days, and I see much attention being drawn to music genre and which styles fit under which genre. I have always considered my music to fall under the country music genre, but I grew up with a different view of what embodies country music. Now, a younger person will have a totally different idea of what country music sounds like, and might say I have a sound like Chris Stapleton, which falls under alt. country. Then you got Tyler Childers, he's writing some great country music, and he keeps getting recognition as americana. Maybe I'm over thinking this whole genre mess, and should use the energy wasted on finding time to write more coun, I mean alt., uh americana, well whatever.

Supporting your favorite artists
Good day all of my music loving friends! This morning I was reading a very interesting article about the Music Streaming providers (Particularly Spotify), and what they considered "their product". I actually use Pandora to stream music, and I used to make most of my purchases through iTunes. The important thing to remember about any of the streaming platforms, is that they are just that. They are not the ones who are creating the music that you love, and the artists are not making much money (through streaming) from the songs that you are enjoying. I believe we artists need these streaming services to reach an audience that would otherwise not even know about our music. However, knowing what I do now after trying to promote my own music, when I find something I like and want to add it to my music library, I go directly to the artists website to buy (iTunes takes a 30% on each song). I guess I just wanted to make everyone aware of the importance to support their favorite artists the best way they can, so the artists can continue to put out the music that we love. Have a great day, and I'm sure some time through your day music will be a part of it!
March Show!
I have another date set for the Mill in Milton, March 20th, 7-10! Be sure to put it on your calendar, and I hope to see you there! At the moment it is just me, doing a solo acoustic set. I am looking to put together a band to work on originals and some cover tunes, so if any of my pick'n friends out there are interested send me a message. Keep on pick'n and grin'n!
